Format behavior
SRT is widely used by editors and desktop players; WebVTT is designed for timed text in HTML5 video, web players, streaming workflows, and learning platforms.
The output starts with the signature required by WebVTT.
SRT commas such as 00:00:05,200 become 00:00:05.200.
Cue order stays the same while SRT index lines are omitted.
The converter does not rewrite subtitle wording or timing.
The result contains the timing and cue text from your SRT file. It does not add positioning, regions, classes, or CSS that were not present in the source.
Format notes
This route changes a simple, player-friendly caption file into the timed-text format used by HTML video and many web players.
The output adds the required WEBVTT header, changes timestamp commas to periods, and removes SRT index lines. Cue text, line breaks, and timing stay in their original order. The MDN WebVTT guide explains why WebVTT is useful for browser video.
